CHELSEAPetr Cech -
6 - As expected, was tested in the air by Blackburn but generally dealt with the threat well. Got away with one potentially damaging fumble in an otherwise easy game for the big man.
Juliano Belletti -
6 - Looked slightly under the weather and was withdrawn on the hour after a solid performance.
John Terry -
7 - Was denied a goal by a splendid Robinson save, but wasn't often asked to provide similar heroics defensively. Made one goal line clearance in an otherwise comfortable evening for the England captain.
Branislav Ivanovic -
7.5 - Doesn't look the ideal full-back in Carlo Ancelotti's system, but put in another impressive performance as he marauded up and down the right. Chelsea have won every game the Serbian has started this season.
Ricardo Carvalho -
6.5 - Under increasing pressure for his position, but did not have too many chances to show his worth to Ancelotti.
Michael Essien -
8.5 - Saw a lot of the ball at the base of midfield, and distributed it majestically both long and short. Broke up fledgling Rovers attacks with ease, and scored with a wonderful 30-yard drive to seal the game on 50 minutes.
Frank Lampard -
8 - Went close on a number of occasions before twice adding to his goal in midweek. Running and passing were exemplary in another good performance.
Michael Ballack -
7 - Another solid performance from the German. Spread the ball around the field with expertise and his manager will appreciate his importance to the side.
Joe Cole -
7.5 - Great headed chance to score after just 29 seconds was a warning of things to come. His presence and character on the pitch seemed to open up Chelsea in their most spectacular performance of the season. Withdrawn on 75 minutes to a standing ovation.
Nicolas Anelka -
7 - Pinpoint cross forced Givet's error for own goal. Drifted in and out of the match but his movement played a big part in Chelsea's overall threat.
Didier Drogba -
8 - Looked like he might not get on the score-sheeet until he headed home Chelsea's fifth. Another amazing performance, he assisted Lampard's first and won the penalty for his second.
Substitutes
Paulo Ferreira - 6 - A welcome return to first-team football for the Portuguese international, who will be forgiven for thinking it was another reserve team outing after the generally relaxed time he enjoyed.
Jeffrey Bruma - 6 - A first-team debut for the highly rated young defender. Part of an inexperienced defence which survived a few late scares.
Daniel Sturridge - 6 - Replaced Cole as Ancelotti gave some of his youngsters a run out. Had one weak shot that went straight at Robinson.
BLACKBURN ROVERS
Paul Robinson -
5.5 - Keepers rarely can do much about own goals, and this was the case for Robinson today. Made a number of special saves — most notably from Terry and Drogba — to keep the score down, but was deceived by Essien's swerving drive and by then the floodgates were open.
Gael Givet -
5 - Unlucky to divert Anelka's cross beyond his keeper for Chelsea's first goal. The evening did not get much better from there for the downcast Frenchman.
Ryan Nelsen -
5 - Desperately needed his partner in crime Samba as he attempted to stem the tide. Without him, he was often woefully exposed.
Martin Olsson -
5 - Drafted in to replace the ill Pascal Chimbonda, but the youngster understandably struggled to cope with a Chelsea side on top form.
Lars Jacobsen -
5 - A day to forget for the whole backline. Jacobsen will be glad he doesn't have to face the likes of Chelsea every week.
Morten Gamst Pedersen -
5.5 - Not the ideal game for a tricky winger to be involved with, but Pedersen put in a decent shift in what was always going to be a losing battle. Withdrawn early, to be saved for a more winnable battle.
Steven Nzonzi -
5.5 - The lofty young midfielder looks a good acquisition for Blackburn, but he struggled to clamp down on Chelsea's midfield and couldn't get his head on a set piece for the goal his side craved.
Keith Andrews -
4 - Chelsea's passes cut out Andrews with ease, as the Irish international was almost played out of the game. Not a game he will want to remember.
El Hadji Diouf -
5.5 - Impressively disciplined performance from one of the more disliked players in football. Worked hard to help out his defence as much as possible, and also got forward to support his attack.
Brett Emerton -
5 - His delivery from set pieces was key to Blackburn's pre-match gameplan, but never proved to be up to scratch. Poor performance for the Australian.
Jason Roberts -
4.5 - A willing runner throughout, but never really got involved in the game and was subsequently substituted early in the second half. Allardyce looked distinctly unimpressed with Roberts' efforts.
Substitutes
Nikola Kalinic - 6 - On for Roberts early into the second half, and put himself about well as he staked his place for regular football.
Michel Salgado - 6 - Even the Champions League winner's experience couldn't help Rovers' abject defence.
David Hoilett - 6 - The youngster showed his naivety at times in his 20 minutes on the pitch, but also showed glimpses of the talent he undoubtedly has.
